What does letting go actually buy you? This verse answers.

The wise, united with wisdom, abandon the fruits born of action. Freed from the bondage of birth, they reach the state beyond all sorrow.

SANSKRIT

कर्मजं बुद्धियुक्ता हि फलं त्यक्त्वा मनीषिणः । जन्मबन्धविनिर्मुक्ताः पदं गच्छन्त्यनामयम् ॥२-५१॥

You asked what the wise receive for all they let go. Not the small fruits they released — but freedom from the wheel itself, and a state without fever, without wound, beyond the reach of sorrow.
