[ BHAGAVAD GITA · 2.69 · spoken by Krishna ]

What the world calls being awake, the sage calls sleep.

What is night for all beings — in that, the disciplined one is awake. And where all beings are awake, that is night for the sage who truly sees.

SANSKRIT

या निशा सर्वभूतानां तस्यां जागर्ति संयमी । यस्यां जाग्रति भूतानि सा निशा पश्यतो मुनेः ॥२-६९॥

KRISHNA’S LINE

What the world sleeps through, the disciplined one is fully awake to. What the world calls waking — the chase, the noise, the endless pull of the senses — to the one who truly sees, that is only sleep.
